Staff Advisory Support

SAS Logo

The Staff Advisory Support (SAS) Committee’s mission is to create a platform where staff voices are heard, facilitating confidential communication between staff members and the college administration.

We are dedicated to serving as a supportive body for the staff within the College of Arts & Letters. Through our advisory role, we ensure that staff have a say in decision-making processes, impacting both the staff and the college at large.

Our Objectives:

  • Support and Empowerment: Serve as a steadfast support system for staff, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed.

  • Confidential Communication: Provide a secure and confidential channel for communication, fostering trust and openness between staff and administration.

  • Advisory Role: Act in an advisory capacity to the college administration, ensuring staff insights contribute to the college's decision-making.

  • Unity and Professionalism: Promote unity, cooperation, and professionalism among staff members.

Who makes up SAS?

We are comprised of up to ten members, and our roles include a president, vice president, secretary, and media officer, alongside up to six other staff members from the college. Committee members are elected for up to two 2-year terms, fostering continuous representation and fresh perspectives.

When does SAS meet?

Regular monthly meetings and special sessions, when needed, allow the committee to address issues and engage with staff. All decisions and actions stem from these comprehensive meetings, and updates are shared with staff within ten business days.

Can I attend SAS meetings?

Yes! Our meetings are hybrid, and provide an opportunity to share your concerns with the committee. If you prefer to meet with a committee member one-on-one, reach out to any officer via email (linked below).

Leadership and Elections:

SAS officers fulfill crucial roles in meeting management and communication. Elections are held annually to ensure dynamic leadership, with a clear process for self-nominations and secret ballots enhancing transparency and inclusivity.

Are my concerns confidential?

Confidentiality is a cornerstone of SAS. All discussions and deliberations are conducted with the utmost discretion to ensure trustful collaboration between staff and administration, aligning with university standards and respecting mandatory reporting obligations.

Anonymous reports can be made via our Qualtrics Survey
