Inclusion and Belonging Committee

As we strive for a more inclusive community at Notre Dame, the College of Arts and Letters started a staff Inclusion & Belonging committee.  The committee will help drive college initiatives that provide educational opportunities, create a safe space to ask questions about issues and topics related to diversity and identy and drive organizational intiatives that maximize the developemtn of our diverse workforce.

We are happy to share that Paloma Garcia-Lopez, the Associate Director for Latino Studies has graciously offered to Chair the Inclusion & Belonging committee. The committee will help drive college initiatives that provide educational opportunities, create a safe space to ask questions about issues and topics related to diversity and identity and drive organizational initiatives that maximize the development of our diverse staff.

Paloma was recently awarded a Presidential Achievement Award for her contributions in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion at Notre Dame. In her role at ILS, Paloma oversees the Institute's many programs, as well as a team of staff members and student workers. Paloma is a graduate of Stanford University and the Stanford Graduate School of Education. 

Paloma is dedicated to Notre Dame's mission to be a force for good in the world. She just wrapped up four years as president of AdelanteND, growing its employee membership to over 130 staff and faculty of Latino descent. For the College of Arts and Letters, she has served as the Diversity Catalyst and looks forward to leading the new Inclusion and Belonging Committee. She exemplifies Notre Dame’s core values: accountability, teamwork, integrity, leadership in excellence and leadership in mission.
