Faculty Hiring: Adjunct Appointments

Adjunct faculty play a necessary and important role in the work of the College. Under current policy, an adjunct may only teach two courses in a semester. Exceptions to this policy require approval in both the Dean’s Office and the Provost’s Office.

Please contact the appropriate divisional Associate Dean for approval of appointment. All adjunct appointments are subject to enrollments. If a class is canceled as a result of low enrollment, the contract for that course becomes null and void. The College has a fixed pay scale for adjunct faculty. The appropriate divisional Associate Dean must approve any exceptions.

Departments must upload a current curriculum vitae (CV) for each adjunct in order to periodically review their teaching and make decisions concerning such appointments and reappointments. Updated CVs should be uploaded into the document library in FileMaker Pro by the department in the accepted format found in the RPT Guide [Reappointment, Promotion and Tenure Guide].

New hires are routed through Interfolio and OnBase, with new records created in FileMaker. Reappointment paperwork is drafted by the department and emailed to the divisional Associate Dean’s Sr. Administrative Coordinator to complete in OnBase. Jobs are built by the divisional Associate Dean’s Sr. Administrative Coordinator.
