Contracts and MOUs

Michelle LaCourt, Sr. Director Finance and Administration

Contract Administration

A contract is a document that outlines an agreement between the University of Notre Dame and one or more parties external to the University.

Contracts with Individuals

  • Faculty contracts are routed through OnBase (please see the faculty hiring process).
  • Office of Postdoctoral Scholars (paid positions).
  • External independent consultants/contractors - please email Michelle LaCourt.

Contracts with External Entities

  • Contracts for externally sponsored programs are routed through Notre Dame Research.
  • Purchasing contracts are routed through BuyND.

All other contracts should be routed through the Contract Management tile in InsideND. Please route the contract to Michelle LaCourt for review and approval. Once Michelle approves the contract, the system will automatically notify the Office of General Counsel (OGC) to do a final review. Once OGC reviews and approves the contract, the contract will be sent electronically to Michelle LaCourt and the other party to sign via DocuSign. The Contract Management tool will automatically email the submitter a fully executed contract which they can use to initiate payment via the financial toolkit in InsideND.

A faculty or staff member (or student) cannot sign contracts on behalf of the University. Please contact Michelle LaCourt with any questions.

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

An MOU is a document that outlines an agreement between two or more parties internal to the University of Notre Dame. Michelle LaCourt is available to help with any questions you may have on MOUs or to suggest language to clarify the intentions of the agreement.

Any MOU that involves the dean’s office (including those for faculty hiring) will be created by Michelle LaCourt and sent to the parties for review and approval.
