Volunteers Needed for the Diploma Ceremony

Every year we count on our staff to assist with the College’s diploma ceremony. This is one final way that we serve our students. Staff are critical in making sure the logistics flow and everything goes smoothly. This year we will again need a number of staff to participate in the facilitation of the diploma ceremony.

The Arts & Letters diploma ceremony will take place immediately following the University graduation ceremony on Sunday, May 19 at 2:00 P.M., in the Purcell Pavilion. The major task involved will be assisting with the movement of our approximately 700 graduates from our staging area to the floor of the Pavilion before the ceremony begins. Any hours worked during the event will be considered paid time as per University policies and approval by your supervisor. As we finalize details for this year’s ceremony, we will need a solid group of College staff whom we can count on to be a part of our ceremony operations.

In years past, we have all found this very enjoyable and uplifting – the culmination of service to our students. Please consider your availability on May 19 and let us know if we can include you on our team. If you have not joined us before, come have fun with us as we make this joyful occasion happen. All staff working at the diploma ceremony will receive a College of Arts and Letters 1/2 zip pullover to wear the day of the event. More details on the design to follow.

Thank you (in advance) for helping send off our graduates with diplomas in hand!
