New Funding Opportunities from ISLA

Author: Josh Aspen Tychonievich

ISLA will offer two, new funding opportunities this semester with a deadline of 11:59 pm on February 13, 2024. Applicants are strongly encouraged to reach out to Josh Tychonievich to discuss the fit of their proposed project and receive feedback on proposal drafts. Feel free to send questions via email or use this link to schedule a meeting.

Expanding Research Access Grants

In line with its goal to elevate the visibility and impact of the liberal arts, ISLA now offers grants of up to $10,000 to support projects that expand the audience for faculty research. These internal grants may support open-access publishing, translations, and diverse scholarly products designed to expand the reach of scholarly research to the wider public (including but not limited to graphic novels, digital media, performances, recordings, exhibitions, etc).

Research Innovation Labs

This new funding opportunity offers course releases and up to $15,000 per year for two years (with the possible renewal for a third year) to teams of scholars pursuing "a core question (or small set of closely related questions) collaboratively and from transdisciplinary perspectives. Labs will foster research, teaching, and outreach, deepening connections across disciplines, and bringing the insights of the liberal arts to public life." A recorded webinar on this opportunity can be viewed at this link.

Other Grant Programs

ISLA will continue to accept applications for other grant programs, including Large Research Grants and Large Henkels Grants (deadline February 13) as well as Interdisciplinary Research Seed Grants, Small Creative and Performing Arts Grants, Small Research Grants, and Annual Research Theme Grants (applications accepted on a rolling basis, while funds are available).
