NEH Fellowships | Internal Peer Review

Author: Josh Tychonievich

ISLA will facilitate the internal peer-review system for NEH Fellowship proposal drafts. All faculty applying for NEH Fellowships are encouraged to participate. Previous NEH fellows have found peer review to be invaluable in the preparation of their proposals.

If you submit a draft of your narrative (3 pages max) to ISLA via this Submittable form by 11:59 p.m. on March 13 and agree to review one proposal draft written by a colleague, you will receive two reviews of your draft: one from a colleague and one from ISLA staff. Partial drafts are welcome.

All reviews will be double-blind, meaning that only ISLA staff will know who submitted and reviewed a particular draft. Each participant will be given a draft to review, with instructions, by 5:00 p.m. on March 14. Reviews are due to ISLA by 11:59 p.m. on March 26. Reviewer comments will be shared by 5:00 p.m. on March 27.

In the link below, you'll find a link to ISLA's NEH Fellowship Resource Kit, which includes the full Notice of Funding Opportunity, a checklist, suggested timeline, sample proposals, links to recorded webinars, and articles on writing competitive proposals. Feel free to reach out to Josh Tychonievich directly with questions.
