Call for Applications for 2025 Arts and Letters Pizzo Rome Research Fellows Program

The College of Arts and Letters invites applications from tenured college faculty interested in spending the Spring 2025 semester in Rome to work on a research project that would benefit from residence in the region. The program will provide housing in Rome, support for some research-related travel and expenses, support for a graduate student research assistant, and 2-5 undergraduate research assistants enrolled in the Rome study abroad program. The fellow is expected to teach a course at the Rome Global Gateway and host a symposium on the topic of the research project at the end of the semester. We are particularly interested in faculty who have research projects that overlap with substantive problems of interest to the Vatican today, such as poverty, climate change, secularization, and ecumenism.

Applications must include a one-page description of the proposed research project, as well as a brief acknowledgment of support from your chair. Full salary and benefits will be paid during the Rome semester and full teaching credit will accrue.

Applications must be submitted through ISLA's Submittable portal by 11:59 p.m. Eastern on Monday, February 26, 2024.
