Getting Technology Help

ALCO works closely with the campus Service Desk for everyday break/fix support. To report an issue or ask a question, please reference the ServiceNow portal.

For project ideas, software purchases, or more advanced issues, you can schedule an appointment with one of ALCO's IT Solutions Consultants using the General IT Request Form.

NetID (username) and Password

Your NetID is your 8-character username that you use to login to nearly all Notre Dame resources. Most often, this will be using Okta, our campus single-sign-on service. Several related questions are addressed on the Accounts and Passwords knowledge base article

For services or websites that are not yet using Okta, the university provides a free 1Password account. 1Password allows you to securely store passwords, credit cards, and other sensitive information in a secure manner. It integrates into your web browsers to make it easy to use strong, unique passwords for every site or service you access.

Okta FastPass allows you to use biometric methods (fingerprints or face recognition) to securely sign in using Okta. It's a great combination of security and convenience.

File and Data Storage

Notre Dame makes multiple resources available for storing data. More information can be found on the File Storage knowledge base article. An ALCO IT Solutions Consultant can help you determine the best solution for your particular needs, but here is a set of general guidelines.
