The Franco Family Institute will be sponsoring up to two Summer Residency Fellows at the National Humanities Center for the upcoming summer (June 1st-June 26th, 2026).
The NHC Summer Residency Program provides dedicated time, space, and intellectual community for scholars in the humanities. During this residency at the NHC in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, scholars will be provided with housing, breakfast, daily lunch with other residents in the NHC Commons, 24/7 access to a study, and assistance from library staff.
Given space constraints at the NHC, residents must be nominated by a sponsoring university, and the University of Notre Dame may only nominate two potential residents. Once nominated, the NHC will send each nominated scholar a unique link to the application portal in late November, and final applications will be due in early January, 2026. Residents will be competitively selected from the pool of nominees. As a member of the NHC's President's Circle, Notre Dame is guaranteed at least one residency slot.
This opportunity is open to tenured and tenure-track faculty in the humanities. For examples of previous faculty who advanced their projects with the NHC Summer Residency, we encourage you to check out this A&L news release from 2023.
