Summer Community Cinema Capsule Course

Author: Inclusion & Belonging Committee

Audience members watch a film in a dark theater with colorful LED-lit aisle steps.
Presented by the Inclusion & Belonging Committee in partnership with the DeBartolo Performing Arts Center (DPAC)
Join us this summer for a thought-provoking community cinema capsule course that explores themes of gentrification, race, and accessibility through powerful, complex storytelling.
Each screening will open with a brief introduction and conclude with a lively discussion led by DPAC Cinema Program Director Ricky Herbst, alongside a rotating panel of local experts who bring unique perspectives to each film.
Come to one or attend them all! Screenings will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesdays in the Browning Cinema:
  • July 15, Salt of the Earth (1954) - Directed by Herbert J. Biberman
  • July 22, Gut Renovation (2012) - Directed by Su Friedrich
  • July 29, Crip Camp (2020) - Directed by James Lebrecht, Nicole Newnham
