This is a reminder that if you have graduate students who will participate as postdocs in the 5+1 Teaching and Research or 5+1 Internship tracks for the 25/26 academic year, please follow the instructions below to prepare them for their August 1st postdoc positions. (Step #1 should be completed ASAP.)
1. Please review their end date in Personnel Actions (PA) and ensure it is July 31, 2025 (update it if the end date shows an August date).
- Rest assured, this change will not affect their full stipend amount. If their original end date was in August, their paychecks will be increased to accommodate the earlier end date. This has been verified with Ryan Thompson, Payroll Coordinator.
- Please note: Their graduate student employment will now end on August 1st. The Postdoc Office will change their e-class in Banner on that day.
2. Once the Postdoc Office has changed their e-class on August 1st, they will reach out to the department admins so that the department can create the 5+1's postdoc job in Personnel Actions (PA).
- You must have their job built ASAP after the Postdoc Office lets you know that their e-class has been changed. The latest it can be built is August 4th.
- If you will be out of the office on August 1st or August 4th, please make sure there is someone in your office who can build this job while you are gone.
3. Please be aware that upon transitioning to a postdoc role, the student's existing I-9 becomes invalid. A new I-9 must be completed by the 5+1/postdoc at Grace Hall.
